hi there,

Since coming back from sg, my days in melb has been very fruitful, evident in the fact that my bags are still unpacked!!

  • late night wimbledon watching
  • much needed grocery shopping and surprisingly nice chinese lunch at south melbourne with Markymark
  • mart 130 for brekkie
  • kopi kopi and more glorious kopi
  • random daytrip to toorak and chapel st with sfee (i love love chapel, but i’ve got no moolah to shop!)
  • really awesome thai food at lygon+chapel
  • catchup with gracie, gossiped and cooked some (imu very much)
  • lovely homely cooked chicken rice dinner courtesy of fran’s mummy
  • ikea with faye and sfee, where the mattresses were too soft, and out of stock anyways
  • catchup sess with sam+fran (whom i’ve missed very much!)+her man of interest (haha) at cervo, crown

The above marks a relative chronology of the happenings since i landed on tues! Seeing as next sem is surely going to kill me and slowly swallow me whole, this holiday HAS to be a well spent one, i absolutely refuse to waste the holidays away. Well, except for some quality sleeping, streaming and reading time, which does not count as time wastage.

I also refuse to fall sick. Cannottttttttttttt. This bad throat of mine shall go away asap, i need to be healthy to enjoy my hols!

Okies, today i’ve learnt of a few places from various people which i have to check out this holiday!

CLUB RETRO along lonsdale i think. I’ve not heard of it but hearing sam endlessly rave about it got me excited to check it out!!
Essential Ingredients- haha this one is supposedly a cooks/bakers’ haven at Phahran. Cookware, cookbooks, you name it they have it!
Footscray- Just cos i havent been, and i’ve heard that they have awesome pho and random $1 shops which sell everything and anything. Wanna go? ( In the day of cos!) Oh and you know, Footscray is home to the Lonely Planet Pub headquarters, quite cool eh!
Brother Baba Budan- Little bourke, i heard its great coffee and brekkie!
Second hand book shops- Any one really. I used to dislike reading old books, but i’m slowly finding the smell of old books quite interesting.

-

I’ve got plenty plenty more things i wanna do, like shop at chapel, harbourtown at docklands, flea markets, mag nation etc, if money permits!! sigh. Anyways, the papa is coming up for work next wk, but he’s coming a couple of days earlier to spend some time here (with me, im guessing). I think l’m looking forward to that. I think. haha, i kinda had parental overload when i was back in sg, haven’t fully recovered yet.

Alright, if my throat miraculously recovers later, i’m going out for nandos man, it’s only been 5 days and i’m already having immense cravings for my peri peri chips!

Laters alligators!

To an unpacked luggage and fresh sheets in XX hours,

come rain or shine

i might get a bit of flak for saying this, but its the truth.
housemates (good ones) are way easier to live with than parents.

revelation no. 2,
birds of the same feather, do kinda flock together. UHUH. the friends you hang out with, or are very close to, are a reflection of who you are, or at least reflect some facets of your own character. the semblance can be quite uncanny sometimes.

gracie, you’re really muchos missed!! people watching@ liat starbucks, gossiping and watching reet in all her unglamorous moments isn’t the same without you!

the Mango sale has been quite bad, either that or i’ve just put on too damn much weight that i look *** (starts with F) in everything i’ve tried. i did, however manage to buy a pretty nice hoodie jacket, which i already have tons of, but a few more would keep me warmer in icy melbourne :)

down to the last wk in sg! got some errands to run, but i hope to fit them in, somewhere in the midst of catching up with my friends n family. rough plans for the week include,

cafedelmar
butter fac
JB
turkish lunch with mummy
laundry (boo)
lunch/dinner with friends
2X plates of white carrot cake

-
oh yes, manda intro-ed me to Cedele’s Cloud 9 ice cream recently, and its pretty darn orgasmic. Far better than udders, b&j and any gelato i’ve had so far. Within the span of this week, i’ve tried:

Honey Nut
Blueberry Cheesecake
Earl Grey with Fig

I HAVE NO FAVOURITES I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re missing out BIGTIME if you havent tried it already, and please cone it, cos their fresh light crisp cones are unlike anything you will have ever tried. YUMS! My only gripe is that there is no rum and raisin, which is my all-time favourite generic ice cream flavour.

i miss butter+baby bolster+cold weather!

Ok la, i’m gonna go watch Wimbledon with the folks now.

laters,
Lish.

homecoming

all has been just amazing, sans the weather!

there had been no plans to come back, but alas it was on impulse when sfee and i saw cheap tickets offered on qanats, we thought, ‘why not, lets just do it!’, so with a click of a button (and then some), we booked our tickets back to sunnysg. no regrets whatsoever. familytime, mambo, amazingly cheap food and whatever time i get with my friends, i treasure a lot. i just wish i brought back my baby bolster, cos my bed feels a bit weird without it!!

plans are already underway for next week, ask ask me out people, I’ve only about 10 days left. i do miss Melbourne quite a bit though, especially the weather…i miss the wonky weather, but i detest 5pm sunsets, depressing to the max.

will blog more soon! in the meantime, try to stay h1n1 free peeps!

Would like

to have food on the table, cooked by mummy
to go grocery shopping and pick up whatever i like, without looking at the pricetag
to see clothes miraculously ironed and stacked
to have homemade barley water and chrysanthemum tea in the fridge
to have a good back massage
to eat soy bean ice cream at Mr Bean
a french manicure

-

I feel like being pampered a bit a bit. Coming home to my room which looks worse than a refugee camp, is damn depressing.

wondergirls

Lethargic. cold. bone ache.

It’s terribly cold and foggy in melbourne today. AND yours truly did something incredibly daft this morning. In my excitement to retrieve my baking parcel, i went down with NO KEYS AND NO PHONE. Yes. really i’m such an idiot, in my Pjs somemore. To cut the long story short, thank god tim was at home or else i’d have died of cold and hunger and i’d have, quite badly, beaten myself up over it.

Alicia tan remember to take your keys out!!!!!

Anyways, my baking set is really gorgeous! Can’t wait to start using it.

Alrighty, back to work. Have a good weekend y’all!

you are magnificent, eternally wonderful

With flour, eggs, butter and sugar, i whipped up some pancake mixture just now and in 4 hours, they shall be fried, flipped and drizzled with maple syrup. That was my 15 mins distraction from my essay.

My quite detailed outline and intro is on a word doc, but i just can’t seem to get the magic fingers working any further. tap tap tap.

Someone save me from essays please.

egypt distraction

Two days ago, i got an email from DD saying that there has been a re-stock for the 8-piece silicone bake set which i really wanted a couple of months back!Excitedly, i clicked on the link to check out the price+shipping. It was really super worth it, about 40 bucks cheaper than if you had bought it in the department stores, but i felt the shipping was a bit costly, and cos this month i’m really on a tight budget, i closed the link.

Lo and behold, today i get another email from DD informing me that if i purchased this item within the next 3 days, i get free shipping :) So now, I’ve new babies being delivered to me by next week! Now i’m excited again! haha

product1_20970damn pretty right!! red leh.

Now i just have to buy a weighing scale which weighs in kilos and grams. The very eclectic looking one which i bought at a flea last year measures in pounds, and its serious stress for a number dumbo like me to keep converting measurements. Not to mention, quite inaccurate as well cos its hard to weigh in exact measurements for ibs.

Okays, thought i’ll share!

back to work :(

Delish

Has a new found appreciation for early mornings and a comforting cup of coffee.
